Do I have to take 642-901/642-902 after July 31st?

Postby John on Thu Jul 01, 2010 4:07 pm

As the title states, do I have to take 642-901, or can I finish my CCNP with 642-902 after July 31st?

I have cleared ISCW, ONT, and BCMSN. I would hate to lose all of the progress that I have made towards my CCNP. I am mentally exhausted with family and work and I am not sure I can get a firm understanding of 642-901 or 642-902 in under 30 days. It is my understanding that 642-902 is easier than 642-901. To that end it would be to my advantage to just wait and complete 642-902 in August sometime.

Anyone else out there in the same boat?

According to this, specifically "path #1" you can do exactly that.

Your ISCW, ONT and BCMSN exam results don't expire at the end of July, just the ability to take the OLD exam expires at the end of July.

Best wishes,

Thank you Keith. Not to doubt you, but can anyone else confirm this? I'd like to have at least two opinions on this if at all possible.

John, not sure how much more official you want than the Cisco website for the CCNP - but yes Keith's explanation is my understanding as well. Your old tests - as long as they are valid from the original test date - will count towards your CCNP even if you take the newer exam.

I'm just a little nervous I guess. Thank you both.
