How to remove Interface ?

Postby Rajesh 2T on Fri Jul 09, 2010 9:49 am

Friends,

I created a subinterface on a router and removed it as follows

!
config t
int s0/0.103
exit
!
no int s0/0.103
!

But in my "sh ip int brief" output I can see that interface in "deleted" status.
How I can remove it permanently , i.e, I dont want to see that interface entry in the "sh ip int brief" output.
This is a production network and I dont want to give reload... Please suggest.

Reload is how you'll get rid of it. This has been an issue with IOS for a long time.
Maybe someone else will know a neat trick - but short of reload I've always seen them stay.

As an aside - you could try defaulting the config on the actual interface, that may remove the subinterface on some models.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reload was the only solution though.

How to make the interface to default configs ? Can you please give the commands? I know that reload will do the job, but this router is on prodution network and i dont want to reload it...
