MHSRP

Is this a true active/active solution? From what I can gather it looks like each group can still only have 1 primary router. What defines a group?

MHSRP is a hybrid solution - it's still hot/cold per instance, but you can set one device as the primary for VLANs 1/2/3/4/5, and another for VLANs 6/7/8/9/10. Such as, you will still utilize both paths, but never for the same group at the same time.

If you want a more dynamic load balancing, look into GLBP.

So MHSRP is load balancing, but not really. I balances groups and not total traffic. The 3550/3560's do not support GLBP, thats why i was asking about MHSRP. Thanks for the insight.

Why is it being referred to as MHSRP? Isn't called just HSRP?

Oh yeah, I was aware that HSRP could divide the default-gateway resource on a per-VLAN basis but I didn't know it became another name.
