Etherchannel ports

Postby Whiz on Wed Jul 21, 2010 11:28 am

Hello All

Have been preparing for TSHOOT for a month now and been a passive reader through out the R&S group ...
most of the feeds are mind refreshing ..
I m just wondering, for those who have done/ are preparing for TSHOOT; how do you go about covering Ether channel ports and troubleshooting involved ?

Thanks for your time and help

Hi Whiz

Make them different at each end.
Unplug them
change the load balancing methods
connect different port groups together

Hi dude

When you create the etherchannel
dopnt shut the interface down prior to doing that. In this way it wont come up. This is one of the many mistakes engineers do when they create it.

Here is a great resource for Etherchannel Troubleshooting.

https://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk389/ ... _list.html

You will also want real gear to practice with.

Best wishes,

Yes - and of the excellent links Keith provided - I would focus on this one

Thanks all for your help ..

I am not sure I can afford actual gear to play with , but I work with an ISP in so will see if we have any gear available
I am trying to make a document that would tackle every objective for TSHOOT and outline what can potentially go wrong ..

Thanks again for your help guys

Not administratively shutting the interfaces was a mistake I learned the hard way. Thankfully it was in a lab environment.
