%LINK-SP-3-UPDOWN: Interface FastEthernet4/1, changed state to up

%LINEPROTO-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface FastEthernet4/1, changed state to up
%LINEPROTO-SP-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface FastEthernet4/1, changed state to up

Hi,

It seems that the first error messages is sent by RP router processor, and other one is sent by SP Switch processor.
The generic format of error messages is as below

FACILITY-SOURCE-SEVERITY-MNEMONIC: Message-text

So we wee see the output you had from 6500

%LINEPROTO-SP-5-UPDOWN: Line protocol on Interface FastEthernet4/1, changed state to up ( SP is the source,)

Hello Manny,

if you have two supervisors running SSO the SP may stand for standby processor and the other messages come from active processor

Hope to help
